Returning to the Concert Dance Stage!!!
In 1993 at the young age of 19 yo and training with Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, I had the pleasure to witness history as former Lester Horton and Alvin Ailey Alumni (and Horton Master Teachers) James Truitt (DCDC Artist in Residence) and Carmen de Lavallade set the 1948 Lester Horton modern dance masterpiece, “The Beloved” during Dayton’s 25th Anniversary Season. Nearly 20 yrs ago I had the honor of stepping into the role of the “murderous preacher” during my tenure with Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Co. I had the privilege of sharing the work with the Atlanta community in 2016 as Bridget Roosa, Director of Dance at Agnes Scott College reset the work from labanotation during her solo concert. I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be back in rehearsal this Fall to once again share this very relevant work.
